Every Planfolk product is an instant digital download, and nothing is shipped: you get your files right after checkout and can start planning the same day. This page explains how to download them, open them in your note app and print a page when you want paper.
Getting your files
- Check out as usual. Your download is ready as soon as the order goes through.
- Open the download link on your order page or in your confirmation email, and save the file.
- If the download is a ZIP file, open it to get the PDFs inside. On an iPad or iPhone, tap the ZIP in the Files app and it unpacks into a folder next to it. On a Mac, double-click it. On Windows, right-click it and choose Extract All. On Android, open it in your Files app and tap Extract.
- Keep a copy of the original files somewhere safe, such as your Files app or a cloud drive, so you can import a fresh copy later.
Some downloads hold more than one file. The 2027 digital planners, for example, come as one ZIP with two PDFs: a Monday-start version and a Sunday-start version of the same pages. Import the one you prefer, or both.
Which app to use
Our planners and journals are hyperlinked PDFs, so use an app that keeps PDF links working. On iPad, Goodnotes, Notability and Noteshelf all do. On Android tablets, Xodo and Samsung Notes are good choices. You can write with a stylus or type with the app's text tool. The editable templates (seating chart signs and vacation rental welcome books) are the exception: they open in PowerPoint, Google Slides or Keynote. The spreadsheets are different again: the ZIP holds a PDF with your Google Sheets link (open it, then File, then Make a copy) and the same template as an Excel file (.xlsx) for Excel 2016 or newer.
Importing into Goodnotes
- Open the Files app and find the PDF.
- Tap and hold it, choose Share, then pick Goodnotes. Or, inside Goodnotes, tap New, choose Import and select the PDF.
- Import it as a new notebook. Tap the tabs to move around, then pick a pen and write on any page.
Importing into Notability
- Open the Files app and find the PDF.
- Tap and hold it, choose Share, then pick Notability. Or use the Import option inside Notability.
- The PDF opens as a new note, ready to write in.
If a tab doesn't respond: most note apps follow links when you tap with a finger in read-only or view mode. Switch to that mode, tap the tab, then switch back to your pen.
Tips once you're in
- Need more of a page? Most apps let you duplicate it. The tabs on a copied page may not work in every app; if they don't, use your app's outline panel (next tip) to jump to any section.
- Sticker pages are part of the PDF. In Goodnotes, lasso a sticker, tap the selection, choose Take Screenshot, then Copy, and paste it onto any page. In other apps, use their screenshot or crop tool.
- Our planners include an outline (bookmarks). Open your app's outline panel to jump straight to any section; in the 2027 and ADHD planners it lists every month, week and day.
Printing
Our planners are designed for tablets first, but you can print any page. Choose the page's own orientation (the 2027 planners are landscape) and "fit to page" on US Letter or A4. To print a single page, export just that page from your app first. Small labels print small, and dark designs such as Midnight use a lot of ink.
Good to know
- Digital download: no physical item, app or device is included.
- Colors may look slightly different on different screens and printers.
- Write-in planner pages don't calculate anything; the spreadsheets add up what you type. Nothing in either is financial, medical or professional advice.
License
Planners and journals are for personal use only. Please do not share, resell or redistribute the files. You're welcome to print pages for your own use. The editable templates have their own license, shown on each product page: the welcome books, for example, are licensed for use in your own rental properties.

Digital downloads can't be returned, but if anything isn't working, contact us and we'll help. If a file won't open, a link doesn't work or you can't find your download, send us a message with your order number.
