A walk through the 144 pages
Begin Here (6 pages). How to Use covers the tabs down the right edge, which pens to use and printing, and ends with a gentle note. What Is Shadow Work? puts the idea in everyday words: where the term comes from (the psychiatrist Carl Jung), how hidden parts can show up as projection or as triggers, and what shadow work means in this journal: noticing with curiosity instead of judgment, then writing about it. Going Gently walks through before, during and after a session. My Intentions asks why you're here and what you'll do if a prompt feels too heavy, and My Comfort List holds people to reach out to, calming places, small comforts and words you need to hear.
84 prompts in 7 themes (92 pages). All Prompts shows every number on one page; tap one to open that prompt. Each theme starts with an index listing its 12 prompts, then gives every prompt its own page with ruled writing space. The themes are Inner Child, Emotions & Triggers, Beliefs About Myself, Relationships & Boundaries, Hidden Parts & Fears, Self-Compassion, and Gratitude & Growth. Prompt 1 reads: "Picture yourself at around seven years old. What did an ordinary day feel like for that child?"
Trackers (8 pages). Three Trigger Tracker pages (date, situation, feeling, thought, what I needed); a Mirror Log for what you judged in someone else, what it stirred and what it might show you about yourself; and three Emotion Check-ins, where you circle any of 24 feeling words, rate how strong it is from 1 to 10, pick an overall mood from heavy to bright and note where you feel it in your body.
Daily Reflections (9 pages). Eight undated pages: how today felt, something that stirred you, what you felt and needed, one thing you handled with care, what you're grateful for and what you're setting down tonight.
Monthly Reflections (13 pages). Twelve undated months, each with three words for the month, a mood circle for every day from 1 to 31, moments that felt light or heavy, patterns you noticed, a boundary you held and what you'd like next month.
Affirmations & Letters (7 pages). Twelve printed affirmations, a page for your own (for hard, ordinary and good days), and four letters: to your younger self, to your future self, to yourself today, and A Letter I Won't Send, which stays in the journal.
Looking Back (3 pages) and Notes (4 pages). A Progress Review, and Then & Now: eight statements such as "I notice what triggers me", circled 1 to 5 once and again a few months later. Two lined and two dotted notes pages close the journal.
A journaling tool, not therapy
This journal is for self-reflection. It is not therapy and not a substitute for professional help, and it doesn't promise any result. Skip any prompt that feels too heavy and come back later, or never. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services; in the US, call or text 988.
The Celestial Night design
Deep navy pages with a faint scatter of stars, serif titles with a small crescent beside them, and gold details. Each tab on the right edge carries a moon phase, and the cover shows a crescent moon inside a ring of moon phases with a small constellation. The writing areas are cream panels with navy lines, so any pen shows up; light pens in white, cream or gold look good on the navy borders.
Who it's for
- Anyone who wants one prompt per page and no set order: open any theme and skip what doesn't fit.
- Evening writers who like a dark page on the tablet.
- People new to shadow work: the two explainer pages come before the first prompt.
Prefer light pages? The same 144 pages come in Botanical. For a set path of one prompt a day, the 30-Day Shadow Work Workbook uses this same navy and gold. For goals and gratitude, see the Vision & Gratitude Journal, and browse every journal in Time for you.
Questions
Do I have to go in order? No. Every page is optional. Start with any theme, skip any prompt, and return whenever you like.
What if I need more room for one prompt? Duplicate that prompt page in your app.
How is this different from the 30-Day workbook? The journal is open-ended: 84 prompts, trackers and monthly pages to use over months. The workbook is 44 pages that go day by day for 30 days, with its own prompts, a small exercise each day and weekly check-ins.
Is it dated? No. Daily and monthly reflections are undated, so you can begin any day of the year.
Can I print it? Yes. Choose landscape and "fit to page" on US Letter or A4. The navy pages use a lot of ink, so for paper copies the lighter Botanical design prints far more easily.
