Minimal Digital Reading Journal

This printable reading journal keeps every page light: off-white paper, fine black lines and one soft clay accent, so it prints cleanly on US Letter or A4 and still taps through like an app in Goodnotes. It's 105 undated, hyperlinked pages, sent as an instant digital download with nothing shipped.

You get one undated PDF: 105 pages in 9 tabbed sections, with 40 one-page book reviews.

Works in Goodnotes, Notability and Noteshelf on iPad, and in Xodo or Samsung Notes on Android tablets: any note app that keeps PDF links.

Made to print, quiet on screen

Minimal is the lightest of our three reading journal designs. The pages are an off-white close to plain paper, the boxes are hairlines, and color appears only as a clay accent and a few pale clay fills. Measured on the inside pages, Minimal lays down less than half the ink of Cozy Library and a small fraction of Dark Academia's, so a printed log or review page costs very little.

On screen it stays calm too. The tabs on the right are white with thin outlines, and the section you're in turns solid black. Sections are numbered 01 to 09 in clay, the section pages carry simple line drawings, and titles are set in a classic serif. The cover is a tall arch with a clay sun over a stack of books and a sprig in a small pot, under the line "a quiet record of every book you read".

Printing tips. Choose landscape and "fit to page". You can print only the pages you like to fill by hand, such as the bookshelf, the log pages or a stack of review pages, and keep the rest on the tablet. On paper the tabs become plain labels, so a binder with dividers keeps the sections in order.

For the full page-by-page tour, see the Cozy Library reading journal: the pages are the same, only the look changes. If you'd rather read by candlelight, there's Dark Academia, and all three are in A reading life.

Questions about Minimal

Is there any color at all? A little: a clay accent on numbers, labels and the active marks, and pale clay fills in a few boxes. Everything else is black on off-white, so your own pens and highlighters carry the color.

Do the tabs do anything on paper? No. On paper they're labels you can read at the page edge. The links work in your note app.

Can I print just a few pages? Yes. Export the pages you want from your app, then print them; duplicate a log or review page first if you need extra copies.
